If the Hydraulic Press Channel has taught me anything it’s that paper is the most unpredictable substance ever. When put under enough pressure it tends to give off one of the most violent explosions.
In this episode the hydraulic press gives it a try to crush a book that’s about as thick as your average phone book. Surprisingly the 20 ton press wasn’t able to do much by stamp out a few pages. Only until the guy puts a smaller piece to apply the same pressure in a smaller area do we get some truly surprising results. When the book finally gave way to the pressure the result was an explosion greater than even what we say in his explosives episode. As paper and cardboard flew all directions the main camera didn’t survive to give us a frontal view. The dude is going to need to a better blast shield if he is going to keep messing with paper.
Needed to use a smaller base to break the book:
